Calling all knitters, crocheters, and fiber enthusiasts! We are excited to announce that we are already curating more retreats and tours for 2026 in South Africa. All retreats feature uniquely different experiences and each include a several day stay in a safari lodge featuring the “Big Five” at a private wildlife reserve! All retreats provide you an opportunity to showcase your handmade clothing and accessories in small, intimate group settings of no more than 12 people per trip. Stay in world-renown Stellenbosch of the Cape Winelands region while attending Natural Dyeing and Eco-Printing workshops. Learn new fiber techniques and then go on wine tastings and tours. Finish by spending several days relaxing at a safari lodge.

Attend one of the largest Winter Wool Festivals in South Africa! There will be many workshops, art exhibits, wool product stalls, agricultural and educational exhibits. Finish by spending several days relaxing at a safari lodge.

South African Mohair and wool

South Africa is the world’s largest producer of mohair from Angora goats. Italy is it’s largest importer who loves to combine it with fine Italian wool –which South Africa also produces in the Karoo. South Africa exports its fiber out of Port Elizabeth from the Karoo. For Eastern Cape trips, this is the very place you start your loop to knit/crochet/weave your next adventure.
